CTC's staff wear many different hats—acting as not only teachers, but mentors, role models, counselors, and often times, as a friend.
Each CTC campus offers faculty who are dedicated to serving every student and hours are flexible. Students receive job and life skills training that ranges from writing resumes and cover letters, filling out job applications, and proper dress and etiquette lessons to financial management and interpersonal skills.
Through their education, students gain the necessary confidence and knowledge needed to pursue post-secondary educational opportunities, and the confidence to face obstacles and identify long-term goals.
Our success lies in program relevancy and development of partnerships
with existing training programs, community colleges, industry, unions,
and businesses. CTC has also been included in the ranks of the top 5%
alternative schools in the Twin Cities (No Child Left Behind, 2003).
CTC integrates work-based
English Language Immersion with pre-employment skills training, business/entrepreneurship
education, and computer technology. We provide educational and workforce
training to immigrant, refugee, and at risk youths who have dropped out of or are not
currently attending high school.
We focus
on dismantling the barriers which prevent school-age youth from accessing educational, employment and career opportunities:
EDUCATIONAL STANDARDS
CTC emphasizes the creation of a motivational teaching environment and opportunities for students to establish excellent teaching relationships with instructors. CTC classes are aligned with state and district academic standars.
EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY
Computers, software, hardware and internet connections provide students with state of the art computer training. We realize that students learn best in a hands-on learning environment by using equipment that is similar to what is used in the industry.
STUDENT SERVICES
CTC provides
a supportive environment where students have opportunities to gain positive self-awareness through interaction with faculty and staff. While the faculty provides support and assistance in academic areas, advisors are available for assistance with non-academic, personal issues.
TUTORING
Because CTC believes that it is important to assist students in gaining the maximum benefit from their education, tutorial assistance is available free of charge.
ACCREDITATION
CTC is accredited by the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement (NCA-CASI).
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EDUCATION
CTC is committed to providing education and employment opportunities regardless of gender, race, religion, age, national origin or disability.
