Making
a Difference
Service
Learning & Volunteer Opportunities - Department
of Education archive of volunteer and service learning opportunities
around the nation.
Greater
Twin Cities United Way-People
volunteer for a variety of reasons. Some because they feel compassion
for those in need, and others because they want to better understand the
critical needs of our community. Whatever your personal reason is, United
Way offers great ways to get involved at any level.
Big
Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities-Big Brothers Big Sisters
has been the nation's preeminent youth-service organization for nearly
a century. We have a proven success in creating and nurturing relationships
between adults and children. We ensure that your friendship fits your
life-style, and we have something for everyone. Busy people of all ages
can get involved, and you can choose the program that works best for you!
The
Center for Victims of Torture-Every year, 350 volunteers donate their
time to CVT. Some spend an hour or two on a community service project,
others make a weekly commitment that becomes an important part of their
own lives. Most importantly, our volunteers form the basis of a healing
community – one where torture survivors feel welcomed and protected.
As a volunteer, you can help torture survivors rebuild their lives by
providing transportation to appointments, helping them find a place of
worship, or by showing them how to use the library, the bus system or
the bank. Whatever your talents, you can be part of an effort that makes
hope and healing possible.
